Film to DVD
Cine film is made of many still images called frames, usually around 16 to 18 per second. When projected rapidly in secession these images give the illusion of movement - movies! Traditional transfer methods vary, most involve projection and re-filming, some methods are better than others but none can compare with scanning each frame individually into a digital system.

Rich Definition
Bring It On Studios' film scanners are built in America, the same are used in the American television and DVD industries delivering high definition video from film. Custom built for our requirements, then tweaked by our engineers. We can accommodate both 16mm and 8mm, silent and sound. The Royal New Zealand Navy Museum, after researching various processes, chose Bring It On Studios to digitise their 16mm film library.

Attention To Detail
Perfect film transfers are more than accurate scanning, it takes care, patience and experience to obtain the best results. Films are meticulously cleaned with electrostatic brushes to remove dust and particles then wet cleaned by hand from end to end with film safe solution and fine cotton swabs to remove mould and grime.
Each and every frame is digitally scanned giving us 16 to 18 pristine images per second of film. These images are then matched to video's 25 frames per second using Optical Flow Technology. OFT renders the best frame matching from film to DVD. Once the images are converted to video the footage is transferred to our authoring suite for colour grading and cosmetic edits, removing redundant sections and fixing colour and exposure issues [see film restoration on next page]. In it's final phase the footage is encoded for DVD with commercial grade CINEMA CRAFT® mpeg encoders, the benkmarch for Hollywood studio releases. Armed with this source material we build a DVD project, creating personalised DVD menus with quick jump chapter points for each reel.
